Making Work at Home Work

Posted by Christine Fleeger on 5/08/2009 12:17:00 PM
Hey there everyone. I know it has been a while since I have been on, I just haven't felt up to it my Migraines were back altho now after quite a few procedures and med adjustments I think we finally have them under control. In that time I have spent the time that I could reading and trying to grow my business. In my endeavors I have found a great new book. Making Work at Home Work. by Mary M Byers. You can purchase this book thru the MOPS web site under the MOPS Shop. I have found that this book has so many good ideas on how to blend both my family life and my business under my (well lets face it ) small roof. This year has been especially trying due not only to the onset of my migraines whenever they feel like but that Anne has decided that she no longer wants or is willing to take naps. This was the time in the past when I would get my business done. As my customer base was growing (thank goodness due to my husbands recent layoff) I was finding it more difficult to keep my daughter and my husband for that matter occupied and out of my hair for a few hours each day so I could get work done. I found that at the end of each chapter she has posted a "lesson learned" section. a nice over view if you have been reading in the evening while hubby watches TV or the kids are playing at your feet. I also enjoyed the Mom Profile after each chapter. It really shows you that there are moms out there doing this and it just takes some organization and rules that not only your family needs to respect but you need to respect also.

Hello all we hope you had a great holiday weekend. We had fun on Monday. First because Brian was off since Friday he was up and ready to play. We played ball in the yard for a while then took the kids to Marti Park to play. They had a blast and Anne was able to climb any and everything. After that we took the kids on the hiking trail they have there. Robby found a rock that looks like a gun and brought it home. Anne just wanted to walk in the creek. When we got home we got out there bikes this was the first time Anne was on hers and I am sure she will be riding like a pro in no time. After all she was watching Robby. He really is a great big brother. And as you can see below we had hamburgers and hot dogs with Grammy and Grandpa. Robby felt this should be a drive up service so he parked it on his bike at the table. The rain held off until dinner was almost over so we really did have a great family and we hope you had the same.

Hello All sorry I have not updated in a few weeks. It has been a sick few weeks around here. First Brian had to have a tooth pulled due to an infection. He is doing much much better now. Robby then got a double ear infection as well as a sinus infection. He has not been to school since last Thursday. He is going back tomorrow since he seems to be doing better. Anne has not been feeling so hot either but nothing serious just some diaper rash and tired. We are grateful that she has not got what her brother has. We hope all is going well with your families.

Well it has been another fun filled week. Anne's results came back and everything is within normal range. We are going to keep an eye and track her symptoms and in a month we will go back to our doctor and decide if we want to be seen by a neurologist. I will be sure to keep you all updated. Robby also had a big week this week. On Wednesday he had a field trip to see pocahontas at the new castle playhouse they returned to school about 11 and at 12 I picked him up because we went with my mom to meet former President Bill Clinton. Robby and I were in the front row thanks to Grammy and Robby got his full attention and told him that he also wanted to be President some day. Mr. Clinton held the side of Robby's head and told him to learn all he could in school and to be nice and make friends with everyone. Robert was so excited. We got some great photos. He also wants me to tell you all that he met the lady who makes the roni rolls for his school. He took the photos to class today and was the big man on campus. We hope you all have a great weekend and if you are here in PA don't forget to VOTE on Tuesday!

This week has been long and exhausting. As you can see to the side we took Anne for the EEG on Thursday and then had to go back Friday for the MRI. She was a trooper, and came out of it just fine. We will not know any of the results till Monday. I will keep you all posted. Robby has been missing his dad since Brian and Robby's schedules usually don't cross paths during the week. But because of Anne's tests Brian was home Thursday when Robby got home from school so Brian took that opportunity for some one on one time with him. They went out back and he taught Robby how to shoot his BB Gun. Robby shot once and did good but the second shot he hit the can. As you can see below he was SOOOOOOOO excited. And now feels better because he got to spend some time with daddy. I will update the blog as soon as I hear from the DR. to let you all know what is going on. Have a great weekend.

Hello All well report cards came out this week and Robby did GREAT!! Check out the photo below to see how proud he is. We are so proud of him! Tomorrow (Thursday) we are taking Anne to the hospital to have a EEG and a MRI. She has been having some "Twitching" in her neck and head. They will have to put her to sleep to do the tests. So please keep us in your prayers tomorrow. I will keep you all updated on how it goes and how the results turn out.

We hope you all had a wonderful Easter and a fun filled April Fools Day! Ours was great. Well Brian and I are going to make it official. We are getting married on July 5, 2008. So little time. But you all know me "party girl" I will pull it off of course with help from my sister. I will keep you all updated. Lots going on with the kids too. Robby has lost another tooth and is doing very well in school. Esp. on those Spelling tests. Report cards come out in the next few weeks this will be the first time he will get a % grade. I am sure he will do GREAT! Anne is being a wild and crazy 1yr old. She is climbing all over EVERYTHING. She now knows her mouth and nose. Brian is working like crazy. Hopefully GM doesn't run out of parts so he doesn't have to go back on the road. We wish you all well Have a great spring.
